An IHRA Conference on the Genocide of the Roma in cooperation with the IOE's Centre for Holocaust Education will take place on Sunday, 11 May 2014 in London.
Jointly hosted by the IOE and IHRA’s Committee on the Genocide of the Roma, the conference welcomes teachers and educators to join with international experts in understanding the genocide of the Roma.
The conference will include:
- Keynote addresses by Dr. Slawomir Kapralski, Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academic of Sciences, Warsaw and Mirjam-Angela Karoly, OSCE’s Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).
- Workshops led by colleagues from across Europe who will share teaching and learning materials suitable for classroom use.
- An expert round table discussion focusing on the connection between the historical past and the contemporary situation of the Roma.
The conference will precede IHRA’s semiannual Plenary meetings taking place from 12-15 May under the UK Chairmanship.
