Seminar for teachers held in Novi Sad, Serbia

Terraforming and The Olga Lengyel Institute (TOLI) are organizing the second annual seminar for teachers from the Republic of Serbia from 21-25 August in Novi Sad entitled “The Holocaust and Human Rights: Learning from the past – acting for the future.

More than 35 teachers from all over Serbia will have a unique opportunity to listen to lectures by national and international experts on topics such as the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance Recommendations on Teaching and Learning about the Holocaust, Holocaust distortion, and contemporary antisemitism. Participants will hear from a broad range of experts including a number of IHRA delegates. Speakers include, among others, Ruth-Anne Lenga, Dr. Werner Dreier, Dr. Calin Rus, Dr. Milan Koljanin, Dr. Milovan Pisarri, Miško Stanišić, and Nevena Bajalica.

The launch event of the seminar took place on 21 August with a reception held at the Archives of Vojvodina in Novi Sad for the seminar participants and other guests including the local Jewish community.

Welcome speeches were held by Nemanja Starovic, State Secretary at Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Head of Serbian  Delegation to the IHRA, as well as by Ambassador Annika Ben David, Swedish Ambassador to Serbia.
