Marking the International Day against Fascism and Antisemitism in Croatia

To commemorate the International Day against Fascism and Antisemitism and on the occasion of the remembrance of the November Pogrom, the Centre for Promotion of Tolerance and Preservation of Holocaust Remembrance has organized a three-day online educational program from November 9 to 11 on “Anti-Semitism, Holocaust, Casualties – the Past in the Present.”

The seminar program aims to inform and educate direct participants – students of journalism, sociology, political science and history, journalists and editors – as well as the general public on the importance and value of accurate and reasoned transmission of the truth of the Holocaust.

Within the scope of the online seminar program, prominent subject-matter experts will cover a diverse set of topics: How ethically does the media report and comment on the Holocaust, on the suffering of Jews, Serbs, Roma, political dissidents and others? How relevant are the historical sources they use? How do art, literature, and film thematize antisemitism?

This project is being supported in part by the German Embassy in Croatia, in connection with the German IHRA Presidency. Three members of the Croatian delegation to the IHRA – Loranda Miletić, Goran Hutinec and Ivo Goldstein – will be participating in the seminar program. As part of the seminar program, the IHRA Recommendations for Teaching and Learning about the Holocaust will be presented as well.

To participate in the webinar (in Croatian) please register here or follow the discussions live on the Centre for Promotion of Tolerance Facebook page.
