Humanity in Action (Denmark) is pleased to announce the conference "Pre-Genocide. Warnings and Readiness to Protect" to be held from 26 - 28 September 2018.
The conference reflects on the question of whether the world is better equipped today to react to the warning signs of genocide. The following topics will be covered, among others: racial laws in Italy, hate speech in Rwanda, antisemitism in Germany, segregation in Poland, parallel societies in the Netherlands, the saving of Danish Jews, deportation of Danish Jews Theresienstadt, the case of the Red Khmers in Cambodia.
An excursion, included in the program, will take place to a small port “Gilleleje” which was central to the rescue of Danish Jews.
Speakers include Konstanty Gebert, Ulrich Herbert, Joost Hiltermann, Wichert ten Have (Advisor to the IHRA), Abram de Swaan, and Selma Leydesdorff. A number of IHRA Delegates will participate in the event, including Cecilie Stokholm Banke, the Head of the Danish Delegation to the IHRA, as well as Laszlo Csosz (Hungarian Delegation to the IHRA), Michele Sarafatti (Italian Delegation to the IHRA) and Anders Jerichow (Danish Delegation to the IHRA).
