On Saturday 19 November 2016 Martina Maschke, Chair of the IHRA Committee on the Genocide of the Roma, and Gerhard Baumgartner, director of the Documentation Center of the Austrian resistance and member of the IHRA Committee attended the annual commemoration event in memory of the Austrian Roma and Sinti victims murdered during the NS-regime on the site of the former “gypsy camp” Lackenbach in the Federal State of Burgenland.
At the invitation of the Prime Minister of Ukraine, the IHRA Chair, Ambassador Mihnea Constantinescu, attended the official state ceremony in Kiev on 29 September to mark 75 years since the massacre at Babi Yar.
IHRA delegate Martina Maschke has been awarded the highest decoration of the Federation of Austrian Jewish Communities for her engagement and success in developing and advancing Holocaust education in Austria.
The 2017 Grant Call is now open. Applications can be submitted via the online application system. The deadline for opening an account and submitting a project summary and budget is 7 December 2016. Applications must be completed by 31 December 2016.
