The Holocaust Educational Trust invites applications for its annual Teacher Study Visit to Berlin, an advanced level site-based Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course.
26-29 October 2017
Application deadline: Friday 8 September 2017
The Teacher Study Visit to Berlin is an advanced training programme that focuses on the richness and complexity of the history of the Holocaust. The visit is based around a series of key Holocaust related sites in and around Berlin. These on-site sessions will be academically rigorous and interactive, incorporating testimonies, images, primary source documents, poetry and other stimuli that challenge you to discuss and critically evaluate issues regarding Holocaust education – both in the classroom and at authentic sites.
The course will take place over four days and three nights in Berlin. Educational sessions will be delivered by members of the Holocaust Educational Trust education team and by Jeremy Leigh, author of Holocaust Sites in Germany, Poland & Austria.
The Teacher Study Visit is a course for practising school teachers who currently deliver Holocaust education in schools across the UK. Applications are particularly welcome from teachers who have previously participated in HET's Exploring the Holocaust residential course, CPD workshops or the Lessons from Auschwitz Project, or who have attended CPD seminars organised by the IOE Centre for Holocaust Education.
