Every year we invite an international guest to speak during the memorial service, this time it is the French historian Johann Chapoutot. This seminar deals with the question of how the incomprehensible could happen, based on Chapoutot's research on the Nazis' utopian ideology before and during World War II and the Holocaust. Chapoutot emphasizes the importance of understanding the minds of the German Nazis, how they saw themselves, and their actions in order to gain a closer understanding of both history and the development of our contemporary society. The seminar is open to all but is especially adapted for teachers.
