The 40-minute documentary by the filmmaker and former ZDF correspondent in Tel Aviv Dietmar Schulz is dedicated to more than 400 children and young people who, thanks to courageous rescuers between 1941 and 1944, escaped the hell of the Gurs and Rivesaltes camps and deportation to Auschwitz-Birkenau. The hitherto little-known rescue operation is documented on film for the first time. The eyewitnesses who had their say in the film reported on the catastrophic conditions they experienced in the camps and on their dramatic rescue by Swiss Red Cross nurses and members of other foreign aid organizations.
