Concert in homage to the victims of the Holocaust

Madrid

Coinciding with the month of commemoration of the victims of the Holocaust, the Auschwitz exhibition in Madrid organizes, together with the Centro Sefarad-Israel, the concert tributed to the victims of the Holocaust by the duo formed by Pilar Angulo, who played the piano, and Emilio Sánchez Vázquez, who played the violin.

The recital, that took place at the Fundación Canal of Madrid, was the last act of the Cultural Programme, organized by the Auschwitz exhibition in Madrid before its closing. During the event, a musical journey through World War II Germany was made and referenced to the historical context of the pieces performed: violinist Fritz Kreisler; composer Kurt Weill, author of the famous "Mac theKnife" and the work "Youkali", which during the war became the unofficial anthem of the Resistance; and author Ernst Bloch, who was inspired by Jewish folklore and tradition.

To conclude, the recital included the central theme of the film "Schindler's List" by John Williams.
