2nd Generation: children of deported resistance fighters and children of Nazi officers are testifying

Fribourg and Lausanne

The disappearance of the last direct witnesses of the Shoah poses a very serious problem for the transmission and the preservation of their memories today.

How do the second generation representatives face up to this painful heritage? Whereas the descendants of the deported resistance fighters are driven by the desire to testify about the ordeals their parents underwent and thereby honour their memory, the descendants of the Nazi officers have a deep desire to recount the crimes perpetrated by members of their families so that humanity will never again fall prey to such barbarity.

To respond to these concerns, the CICAD is organising a meeting with the descendants of the resistance fighters and of the Nazis in an effort to keep the memories of this horror alive.
