The project worked to develop effective and practical strategies for the introduction of Holocaust education and awareness in countries where there is widespread ignorance about, and sometimes even denial of, the Holocaust.

Following an IHRA-funded seminar in Turkey in 2013, this project continued the “outreach” in a series of first-ever international seminars on Holocaust education and awareness in four geographical zones, namely the Caucasus (Baku, Azerbaijan), Central Asia (Astana, Kazakhstan), West Africa (Dakar, Senegal) and North Africa (Rabat, Morocco). These seminars enabled actors from all sides to meet and discuss how Holocaust history can be included in the curricula of these countries and what informal methods could be used to promote awareness of Holocaust history in these societies.
