It is important to understand history in order to act against injustices in the present. SOS Racism organized a European Seminar on the History of the Shoah and Nazi persecutions in September 2012 at the Shoah Memorial in Paris. A 5-day seminar was organized, consisting of conferences, workshops, and talks by international specialists attended by 50 young antiracist and Roma activists from 31 countries.

The objective was to provide the European antiracist and Roma civil society leaders with a deeper understanding of the Nazi ideology, the history of the Shoah, and Nazi persecutions, including those against the Roma. A following aim was therefore to empower the youth activists when speaking and acting in favor of Roma communities across the continent.
