During this project, the Center for Judaic Studies at the University of Latvia intended to expand and improve their database of information on Jewish killing sites in Latvia on which there were no memorials. The project built upon a previous one, which was funded by the IHRA in 2013. This extension of the project thus sought to add new information and correct the existing entries by adding photos and specifications and verifying sources of information.
The database was translated into English to widen its reach to an international audience. The project also worked to encourage local political and civil leaders to promote the database and Holocaust commemoration locally. International partnership meetings between specialists in the field were also being held to share ideas on Holocaust education and remembrance, and evaluate Holocaust commemoration in Latvia and the Baltic.
